Obituary of Betty Lou Bryson

Betty Lou Stone was born on February 20, 1936 in Monroe. She was one of six children born from the union of the late Frank Stone and the late Hazel (Yoakum) Stone. She received her education by attending Monroe High School and graduated with the Class of 1953.  She met and married the love of her life, Herbert Bryson, on April 3, 1954 in Angola, Indiana. It was from this union that came the birth of their three beautiful children: two sons and one daughter.

To support her family, Betty worked for many years as a librarian at many places: Custer, Lincoln, Raisinville and Waterloo. She received her spiritual nourishment by attended church at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and remained very active within the church by not only attending but also cooking food for luncheons. In her free time, she enjoyed quilting, crafting and ceramics, tending to her garden, canning vegetables, decorating cakes, shopping and reading the newspaper.

Above anything else, she loved her family. She was a loving wife, a great mom and a wonderful grandmother. Her caring and loving nature will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Betty Lou Bryson, age 82, of La Salle, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Promedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Her passing is preceded by her son: Bob Bryson; her brother: John Stone and her parents.

To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband of 64 years: Herbert Bryson; her daughter: Brenda Dunn; her son: John (Vicky) Bryson; her brother: Robert Stone; her sisters: Jo Ann Nisley, Janice Thomas and Florence Majeski; her grandchildren: Carrie Ann Bryson, Jason Dunn, Jenny Dunn, Emily Bryson, Nick Bryson and Corey Bryson; her great grandchildren: Justin Tieking, Lani Dunn and Josh Godwin and many extended family members and friends.

Friends may gather on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 10:00am until a Celebration of Her Life which will be held at 12:00pm at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church 14260 South Dixie Highway which will be officiated by Pastor Roy Southerland. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle immediately following the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, 14567 South Dixie Highway, (734) 241-7070.
