Obituary of Arthur August Schram Jr

Arthur August Schram, Jr. was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 6, 1931. He was born from the union of the late Arthur August Schram, Sr. and the late Jeneva (Barnier) Schram. Arthur enlisted in the United States Navy in November of 1950 where he was rated a Quartermaster 3 (QM3) and oversaw the navigation, maintenance, and preparation of nautical charts and navigation publications. His most significant assignment was on board the U.S.S. Tabberer during The Korean War.  He stayed in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in November of 1954.

Arthur married the love of his life, Patricia Joyce Valentine on July 2, 1955. To support his family, he worked as a Supervisor at Abner Wolff in Livonia. To continue their faith, Arthur and Patricia were members of St. Athanasius Church in Harrison, Michigan. Together they raised four children and were married for 60 years until Patricia’s passing in September of 2015.

More than anything, Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a people person and loved to have visitors. He was active with the Knights of Columbus and was named a 4th level Grand Knight near Clare, Michigan.

Arthur loved the outdoors, and would often go camping with his family and go deer hunting every season. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing puzzles. His favorite places to eat was Burger King and Rudy’s Hot Dogs in Toledo, he would go to both places often.
