Obituary of Helen Dixon

Patricia Helen Domansky was born on January 9, 1934 in Monroe, Michigan. She was one of eight children born from the union of Jacob and Tekla (Hudek) Domansky. Helen attended St. Michael Grade School. She was married by the Reverend John J. Vandaria to Calvin Dixon on January 28, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. From this marriage, the couple would celebrate the birth of three children; Diane, Lorri and Chuck. Helen worked as a waitress for more than twenty years at the Monroe Diner all while balancing being a homemaker. The family received their spiritual nourishment attending St. Michaels Catholic Church. Helen was known to be an excellent cook. She loved to garden, her green thumb came in handy when tending to her garden. Helen was a kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For several years she had made her home in Brooklyn before moving back to Monroe. Patricia Helen Dixon, age 83, of Monroe passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Calvin, her five brothers: Joseph, Steve, Jack, Frank, and Richard Domansky; and two sisters: Mary Alar and Catherine Domansky. To cherish her memory, Helen leaves three children: Diane Donbrosky of Ortonville, Michigan, Lorri Katschor (Larry Merfert) of Brooklyn, and Charles Dixon of Monroe; five grandchildren: Jacqueline Donbrosky (Jason Barath), Michelle Donbrosky (Ryan Harris), Stephanie Donbrosky, Kyle (Megan) Katschor and Kristopher Katschor; and seven great grandchildren: Kole and Mason Katschor, Jackson and Jaelyn Barath, Kaleb, Colton, and Caden Harris. She will lie in state from 10:00am until 11:00am on Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 502 West Front Street. The Mass of the Resurrection will take place at 11:00am with Father David Burgard officiating. Procession will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery for burial.
