Obituary of Bette Jean Hauser
Bette Jean Hauser was born on March 21, 1947, in Warren, Ohio. She was the daughter of Joseph Hauser and Mary (Reining) Hauser. She attended Monroe High School and graduated with the Class of 1965.
For many years, Bette worked in retail. She was employed by the Woolworth Company for more than twenty years as a cashier and store clerk. She later worked as a lunch aide for Monroe Public Schools at the high school.
Bette shared her life with her partner: Wanda Phillips. From this union she was blessed with two daughters: Christine and Ashley. She was also blessed with a granddaughter, Cecilia, who was her greatest pride and joy. The couple had a special relationship and cherished each other’s company.
Bette loved to read a little bit of this and a little bit of that, although her favorites were mystery, murder, and spy novels. She exhibited her creative spirit while crocheting and knitting, often giving many of her unique items to others. She also loved sharing stories about her father, whose memory she kept alive through her words and laughter.
Bette Jean Hauser, age 77 of Monroe passed away at 4:50pm on Saturday; November 23, 2024, at Wellspring Lutheran Services where she had been the past eight days. Her passing was preceded by her partner of nearly thirty years: Wanda Phillips on November 20, 2022; her parents; a sister-in-law: Betty Hauser; and a nephew: David Hauser.
To cherish her memory, she leaves two children: Christine Clark and Ashley (Greg) Liford both of Monroe; a brother: Joseph Donald Hauser of Waterville, Ohio; one granddaughter: Cecilia Grace Philips of Monroe; a niece: Dianna Leigh (Daniel) MacDonald of Waterville, Ohio; a great niece: Elizabeth; and a great nephew: Daniel Joseph “D.J.”.
No public services are planned at this time. Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, North Monroe; 2442 North Monroe Street, Monroe, Michigan 48162. Cremation has taken place through Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan, a division of Merkle Enterprises, Inc.
