Obituary of Sharron Ann Krug

Please share a memory of Sharron to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sharron Ann Schmelz was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 30, 1940.  She was one of two daughters born from the union of Glenn Louis Schmelz and Genevieve (Allore) Schmelz.  When she was only six years old, Sharron’s mother passed from Lupus.  She attended St. Mary Academy before switching to Airport High School for her senior year, graduating with the Class of 1959.

On June 13, 1959, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Sharron married the love of her life: Thomas Gustav Krug.  The couple were blessed with four children.  Family was the heart of Sharron's world. She cherished every moment with Tom and their children, creating a home filled with laughter, love, and warmth. Moreover, Sharron and Tom extended their loving care beyond their own family, opening her home as a foster parent for more than a decade.

For just under twenty years, Sharron was gainfully employed as a bus driver for Lake Erie Transit. Her faith was her guiding light, providing comfort and strength through the nurturing words of her pastors. Faith didn't just stop at the pews; as she was an active part of her church community, assisting with church finances and serving the congregation with dedication. She also loved to help make pies, which became a staple at the Holy Ghost Church booth at the Monroe County Fair, each one lovingly baked and served with her special touch.  Sharron also loyally supported Holy Ghost School and more importantly her beloved husband.  While he served as a girls’ basketball coach for thirty-three years, she worked as a faithful scorekeeper.

Sharron cherished her time at the family cabin in Gladwin - it was her sanctuary. Her love for the outdoors extended to her own backyard, where she could often be found tending her grape vines. Together with Tom, she took part in the rustic art of winemaking, transforming their wine into something special they could share.

Sharron Ann Krug, age 84 of Monroe passed away peacefully at home on Saturday; November 23, 2024.  She was surrounded by family and under the care of Heartland Hospice.  Her passing was preceded by her parents and her husband: Tom on February 13, 2023.

To cherish her memory, she leaves four children: DeeGee Marie (Dave) Vroman of Mayville, Michigan, Thomas A. (Cindy) Krug of Monroe, Christine Krug (Glen Wandt) of LaSalle, Michigan, and Kelly Ann Doty of Dayton, Ohio; one sister: Sandra Konrad of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren: Christopher, Dakota, David, Woodrow, Jason, and Delaine; and five great grandchildren.
