Obituary of Harold LuVert Toles

Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Harold LuVert Toles was born on July 16, 1941, in Monroe, Michigan. He was one of eight children born from the union of Eddie Lee Toles and Anna Mae (Campbell) Toles.

Being the youngest, his older siblings doted on him, and they developed a bond that carried on throughout their lives.  This environment taught him the invaluable importance of family.  Bert was more than just a beloved father and brother; he became the cherished anchor for his nieces and nephews. With his playful spirit and wise guidance, he earned the reputation of the best uncle in the family—a title he wore with pride. He also had a very close relationship with his grandson, Reco Jr.

His commitment to family extended beyond his immediate circle. Bert was simply the glue that held the Toles family together. He championed the idea that family gatherings were not merely social obligations but were essential threads in the fabric of their shared lives. Thanks to his encouragement, family reunions and casual gatherings became cherished traditions, ensuring that the bonds remained strong despite the miles or years that might separate them.

An avid reader, Bert had a curiosity that drove him to explore a wide range of topics. Although he was often seen flipping the pages of his Bible, which allowed him to reflect on its teachings, his reading habits were diverse.

Bert never met a stranger; everyone was a friend he hadn't made yet. He had the rare ability to connect with others, often stopping to chat with anyone he encountered, eager to learn about their lives and experiences. In his community, Bert was known for his cool, calm, and collected demeanor. Even in times of adversity or change, he remained a steady and reassuring presence.
