Obituary of Gloria Ann Bacome

Gloria Longenbarger was born in Toledo, Ohio on February 17, 1941. She was one of four daughters born from the union of Charles and Margaret (need maiden name) Longenbarger. On April 4, 1959, at Glenwood Lutheran Church in Toledo, Ohio, Gloria married the love of her life: Roger Bacome. The happy couple was soon blessed with the birth of three children.  

Gloria enjoyed socializing and participated in several bowling leagues at the Monroe Sport Center.  For many years, she could be found tossing balls down the lane, until her declining health prevented her from enjoying her favorite pastime.  In 1986, she proudly completed her high school education through the Mason Adult Education Program.

Gloria enjoyed a good heartwarming show and she often tuned in to Hallmark and Lifetime Network television channels. She always cheered on the talent while watching the Voice, and never missed an episode of any “Chicago” television series. As of late, Gloria had taken to adult coloring books always having one in her lap.

Born with the gift of gab, Gloria loved talking on the phone, but only to three people: her sister; her neighborhood friend; and her best friend Sue, who also happened to be her daughter Ellen’s fifth grade schoolteacher. Most recently, Gloria was excited about having a “roommate” when granddaughter, Izzy moved in.

Gloria Ann Bacome, age 82, of Dundee passed away peacefully on Friday; March 17, 2023, at the Ebeid Hospice Residence.  Her passing was preceded by her parents; her husband of nearly sixty years: Roger; one daughter: Elaine Aufdenkampe; and one sister Hope Collins.

To cherish her memory, she leaves: a daughter: Ellen Oberly; a son: Jeffrey Bacome; two grandchildren: Michael Duane Oberly and Isabella Oberly; one great grandchild: Sawyer Bear; three sisters: Paula Lewis, Margie Johnson, Joyce White; and two brothers-in-law: Paul and Charlie.

Her care has been entrusted to Merkle Funeral Service, Dundee; 297 Tecumseh Street, Dundee, Michigan 48131 (734) 529-3156. Cremation has taken place through the on-site crematory, Covenant Cremation of Erie, Michigan.
