Mary Jane Field was born in Mount Pleasant, Michigan on August 19, 1943. She was the daughter of Arthur E. Field and Ann (Howard) Field. Mary graduated with the Class of 1961 from Shepherd High School in Shepherd, Michigan. She furthered her education by attending Central Michigan University, although she later obtained her Associate Degree from Monroe County Community College.
In the Summer of 1961, Mary caught the eye of a young man named Robert Charles Tasker. The couple met at Blue Lake where both families had cottages. They were married at the Central Michigan University Chapel on August 31, 1963. They moved from Mid-Michigan to Monroe County in 1971. Bob owned and operated the Detroit Beach Pharmacy for more than twenty-one years. She was a constant fixture at the store helping to keep it tidy. In the mid 1970’s, Mary and Bob were blessed with two children. Mary cared for her family’s needs as a homemaker. She appreciated a neat and orderly home, often vacuuming daily.
She was also employed outside the home for some time for Crafts 2000, Ross Business Institute, and had worked for John Richwine at Gerweck Realty in the 1980’s. The Taskers comically moved quite often living in more than a dozen houses while residing in Monroe County. Mary found her piece of Heaven in her last home spending more than twenty years on the shore of Lake Erie in Bolles Harbor. She loved the lake and lake living. Mary enjoyed boating on their Sea Ray and socializing with friends at the Monroe Boat Club where she was the Past President of the Auxillary. She loved caring for her yard and tending to her flowers. Mary enjoyed reading and spending time with her three grandsons. She was an avid Michigan State Spartan fan despite Bob's Michigan Wolverine influence.
