Obituary of Frieda Marie Hartman

Frieda Marie Wehagen was born in Monroe, Michigan on March 13, 1932.   She was the oldest of six children born from the union of the late Walter Wehagen and the late Gladys (Nadeau) Wehagen.   Frieda grew up in Maybee, Michigan where she attended elementary school at St. Joseph Catholic School.   She would then attend Monroe High School where she obtained her diploma.  

On April 29, 1950 she married Earl S. Hartman in Angola, Indiana.   Together the couple would share in the birth of five children.   For many years, Frieda, would care for the needs of her family as a homemaker.    She also worked in home delivery for the Monroe News for many years.   Earl passed away unexpectedly in 1977.   Being a young widow, she provided as a single mother the best she knew how.

She was known to be very social, and Frieda often enjoyed frequenting several local watering holes.

Frieda Marie Hartman, age 85 of Monroe passed away at 8:17am on Monday, December 4, 2017 at Genesis Healthcare in Sylvania.   In addition to her parents her passing was preceded by one daughter:  Deborah Moore; one son:  Jeffrey Hartman; and three brothers:  Arthur "Art" Wehagen, James "Jim" Wehagen, and Leon Wehagen.

To cherish her memory, she leaves two daughters:  Nancy Butts of Harrison, Michigan and Cindy (Marvin) Coak of Romulus; a son: Brad Hartman (Nina Cuccia) of Monroe; two sisters:  Elizabeth (Cecil) Richards of Ypsilanti and Carol Laubensheimer of Tennessee; eighteen grandchildren; and many, many great grandchildren.

Friends may gather from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Merkle Funeral Service, South Monroe, 14567 South Dixie Highway (734) 241-7070.   Private burial will take place on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Northside Cemetery in Maybee.
